First United Methodist Church Alabaster

United Methodist Women

United Methodist Women is a mission organization whose members give their time and effort through prayer, service, meetings and monetary gifts in response to God’s calling.  There are approximately one million members who choose to commit themselves to the PURPOSE of the organization.  UMW works diligently for the needs of women, children and youth around the world.  More than twenty-five million dollars are raised each year world-wide.

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Alabaster FUMC has a very active UMW unit with approximately fifty members.  Membership ranges from the young to the elderly.  This unit is one of love and friendship, and is open to all.

UMW meets in small groups called “circles” for Bible study and service.  Each circle welcomes new members, and each circle meeting has a program, fellowship, and refreshments.  Our UMW has three circles:

  • Afternoon Circle meets at the church at 1:30 pm, Room 116, on the third Tuesday of each month. Contact Betty Williams, Chairperson at 621-2432 or for more information.

  • The Mary Kroell Circle meets at 7:00 pm in Room 114 on the third Tuesday of each month. Contact Mary Gleason, Chairperson at 663-3579 or for more information.

  • The Beacon of Hope Circle meets at the church at 7:00 pm, Room 114, on the second Thursday of each month. Contact Lisa Jones, Chairperson at 621-4993 or for more information.
