Seek god. love people. live in hope.

That’s what we’re here to do. We are here to be the Body of Christ in this community. We want our church to be a blessing to those outside our walls. We want folks who come in contact with our worship services, small groups, and outreach to be better for it. We want to change the world by changing lives.

John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, believed that Christianity was "essentially a social religion." That means we exist not only to worship but to become more like Christ in loving, serving, and healing our neighbor. To turn the Christian faith "into a solitary one is to destroy it," according to Wesley.

So we are involved in the work of God here in Alabaster and around the world.

If you are looking for a church where your gifts can be used in ministry, this is it. If you are looking for a church where you will be welcome, regardless of what your past looks like, this is it. If you are looking for a church that will push you to be the child of God you were created to be, this is it.

Our ministry Team

"Our pastoral team wants to make this promise to you about what you’re going to experience in worship: You’ll have a time to laugh. We believe worship should be deep, but also that it should be joyful. We love to laugh in church, because we believe that with all that is going on in people’s lives, if this isn’t one of the few opportunities that we have to be joyful together, than the least we can do is get filled up with some joy to share with others through the week."

 - Rev. Arthur Harrison, Senior Pastor

Sunday worship

The Church exists to praise God. Every Sunday, we offer our prayers, our songs, our gifts, and ourselves as we grow together in faith. Whether you are a “cradle Christian” or have never set foot in a worship service before, First United Methodist of Alabaster welcomes you.

While these worship times represent our normal worship schedule, please refer to our front page for our current COVID-19 worship schedule.

  • Contemporary worship

    8:30 AM in restore

Authentic Christian spirituality is a shared response of believers to God’s actions on our behalf. Come and join us in a unique vision that cuts across the grain of usual ways of doing church. You can also livestream our contemporary service each Sunday morning from our Facebook page.

  • SERVICE OF WORD, TABLE, & PRAYERS FOR HEALING

    9:00 AM IN THE SANCTUARY

Slow down, reflect, and connect with God through sung and spoken prayers, God’s Word, and the Sacrament of Holy Communion. There is also a time of response for those who wish to come forward for anointing and special prayers.

  • Traditional worship

    11:00 AM in the sanctuary

This worship experience also lays the foundation for understanding Christian spirituality by tracing it from the ancient church to the present, showing how biblical teaching has been developed theologically and informed by changes in culture.

Wednesday night activities

Due to COVID-19, our Wednesday night activities are temporarily cancelled. Check back soon to see what we offer on Wednesday nights.
