THE STUDENT MINISTRY AT ALABASTER FUMC EXISTS TO SERVE AND SUPPORT THE SPIRITUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL GROWTH OF OUR STUDENTS. WE BELIEVE THAT WE ARE CALLED TO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN THE WORK OF THE CHURCH BY REACHING OTHERS FOR CHRIST, PUSHING OURSELVES TO GROW IN OUR FAITH, AND SEEKING OUT WAYS TO SERVE THOSE AROUND US.

NEXUS STUDENT MINISTRY

We have a growing youth program that meets together throughout the week for Confirmation, Sunday School, Sunday Night Youth Fellowship, and Wednesday Night Bible studies. We prioritize service and fellowship and hope to have each of our students developing a personal relationship with Christ through prayer and scripture.

Weekly Programming

  • Youth Sunday Nights

Youth nights are a great time to come and have a lot of fun, while also learning about God.Sunday Nights are for all 6th-12th grade students, and it’s a great night to bring a friend! Youth Nights include games, worship, a message, and small groups. Sundays are a great night to invite your friends, make new friends, and grow in your relationship with God. Invite a friend, and join us at Youth!

  • Confirmation

Confirmation at Alabaster FUMC is an important milestone for young people exploring their faith. It's a time when our 6th grade students, with the support of their families and church community, take a step forward in embracing their beliefs. Through teachings and discussions led by pastors, staff, and Confirmation mentors, students will get the opportunity to learn more about the Christian faith and what it means to be a part of The United Methodist Church. It's a time for personal growth and discovery, where they can ask questions, learn from others, and make a personal commitment to follow Jesus Christ. Confirmation empowers the Confirmands to become active participants in the life of the church, preparing them to live out their faith with integrity, compassion, and purpose.

Confirmation Classes start each year in August and conclude in March with a celebration service on Confirmation Sunday. During this service, the confirmands will have the opportunity to be confirmed, be baptized (if they haven’t already), and join the Church.

  • Wednesday night bible study

We have a weekly Bible study meeting in the youth room from 6-7. There is a rotation of what the students study, based on interests, struggles and questions they may have about faith and the Bible. Our hope is that students will grow in their faith just as they grow in stature. Students are welcome to attend Bible Study any time throughout the year and it is open to everyone.

(it’s not a ‘Members Only’ club).
